the Season of Advent
The Light Within the Waiting
Advent is a season of waiting — not a passive kind, but a tender, watchful waiting. We lean toward what is coming, even as we begin to notice what is already here. Beneath the surface of things, God’s light is quietly at work — in our longing, in our courage, in the small acts of love that shimmer through the dark. This year at Fairfield, we listen for the holy heartbeat of hope, peace, joy, and love — discovering the light within the waiting.
Week 1 Taize — Flicker: The Light of Hope
Even the smallest flame can guide us home. — Isaiah’s promise rises in the dark. This week, we name our longings and dare to trust that God’s light still flickers within them.
Week 2 — Glow: The Light of Peace
Peace is not the absence of struggle but the steady glow of presence. — In anxious times, we practice being still enough to see the light that already surrounds us.
Week 3 — Spark: The Light of Joy
Joy surprises us — a spark that leaps between hearts. — Joy is not something we manufacture; it’s what catches fire when love and gratitude meet.
Week 4 — Radiance: The Light of Love
Love is the fullness of light — the dawn breaking open within us. — Love is the birth of Christ in our midst, the light that cannot be overcome.
Blue Christmas
Blue Christmas: A Gentle Gathering for Heavy Hearts
If this season feels more tender than bright, you’re not alone. Our Blue Christmas service offers a quiet space to breathe, remember, and be held by a community that understands. With soft candlelight, gentle music, and room for whatever you’re carrying, this evening is a place where sorrow and hope can sit together without pressure. Come as you are— weary, grieving, searching— and let a small, steady light find you.
Christmas Eve 2025
Christmas Eve 2025
Come join us this Christmas Eve for a night that feels like stepping into a deep breath you didn’t realize you’ve been holding since… well, sometime in November. In a season that can be frantic, emotional, or slightly unhinged (looking at you, holiday parking lots), we’re gathering for a service where wonder actually stirs and Light comes looking for every soul. Expect candlelit music, a story that lands in real life, and a community that welcomes you exactly as you are—tired, hopeful, grieving, joyful, or just here for the candles. If your heart could use a little beauty, a little grounding, and a Christmas that feels like truth—not pressure—this night is for you. Come as you are, and leave a little more lit from within
