Ordinary Time

| Season of Ordinary Time |

Ordinary Time is anything but ordinary. It’s the long, green season when the church breathes, grows, and listens—when the rush of holy days gives way to the quiet work of becoming. In this spacious stretch of the year, we tend the slow unfolding of the soul: noticing beauty, practicing mercy, walking humbly with one another. It’s the time when faith ripens not through spectacle, but through presence—when the Spirit meets us in daily rhythms, in laughter, in rest, in the steady pulse of love that carries us forward toward wholeness.

Here at Fairfield United, you’re invited into that unfolding with us. Our doors open at 9:00, worship begins at 9:30, and coffee is on by 10:30 in the Doreen McLeod Room. Come for one part or all of it. Come as you are, and find yourself drawn ever deeper into the heart of God.

Reign of Christ

November 23 | 9:30am

If you’ve been wondering whether there’s still a place in this world where hope gets spoken out loud—where laughter doesn’t cancel reverence and where ordinary people dare to believe that dawn really can break into our bruised places—then you may want to come this Sunday. Because we’ve reached the one-year mark of choosing a future together, and somehow, against every odd and obstacle, small miracles have been sprouting: a tiny choir finding its voice, blessing bags carrying tenderness farther than we imagined, candles flickering like stubborn prophets, tech that mostly cooperates (on a good day), and a community developer who keeps weaving holy mischief into our life together. This sermon will be equal parts wonder and wink, tenderness and truth—an invitation to remember who we are, what God is up to among us, and how light keeps finding a way. Come if you need to be lifted, come if you need to laugh, come if you need to remember that the dawn is still on its way.

Questions:

1.     When something you’ve loved or depended on begins to crumble, how do you recognize God’s presence in the dust and disorientation?

2.     If endings are also beginnings in God’s story, what might be quietly trying to be born among us, even as we grieve what has been lost?.
