What is it that I value at Fairfield United Church?
I feel a sense of belonging and community that is very rare in my lived experience thus far. I always feel uplifted after the service. I continue to meet and enjoy people within our community who are open, and welcoming, loving and kind. I feel inspired by the sacred, inclusive, collective gatherings on Sunday mornings and am called to remember that those of us in the room and those who are all over the world are beloved, beautiful and connected. I am reminded to trust and have faith in a power greater than myself, that teaches that love and compassion are spiritual qualities that require ongoing practice and conscious awareness.

And notwithstanding all of these things, I once met a very wise mentor who said: ”Pay attention to how the children are treated.” The children are a special gift in this community; they radiate love and acceptance. Their presence in the sanctuary adds a component of love in action that opens my heart and reminds me what love looks like.

What would I like to see or what might I be able to give my energy to?
I like many other’s hope that we can continue to grow and develop ourselves in community as spiritual beings who are on a path towards healing and wholeness. I am grateful for the many gifts that are given so generously and freely by everyone in the community. I will continue to promote opportunity for connections with the wider community to engage together in working collectively at improving social justice and working toward greater equality.

I would be interested in participating in a meditation group, if this would be possible within our community, at some time. I also would like to have an opportunity to study the writings of contemplatives such as Richard Rohr and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, if this was of interest to others in the future.
